FIVE MUST VISIT PLACES IN TELANGANA THIS MONSOON

1 Nagarjuna Sagar

Nagarjuna Sagar is one of the largest & highest dams in Asia. The word is derived from a hillock island Nagarjunakonda where a Buddhist Guru once lived. Being the second biggest water reservoir in India, it is the pride of Telangana. Constructed across River Krishna at Nagarjuna Sagar on the border of Nalgonda District, Telangana and Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh State, the dam was built by 1967. 2 Laknavaram

Laknavaram Lake situated in Govindaraopet Mandal is a popular getaway spot these days. It is nearly 219 km away from Hyderabad. Kakatiya kings built the lake in the 13th century by blocking three narrow valleys. Medaram, twenty kilometers from Laknavaram is very popular for Sammakka Saralamma Jatara; a Hindu tribal festival is one of the largest tribal gathering in the world which occurs once every two years. Almost ten million people attend for over four days.

There are 13 islands in the lake and a hanging bridge of joining three islands. A thick, dense forest surrounds the lake. The famous attractions in the area are Thousand Pillar Temple, Pakhal Lake, Ramappa Lake, Ghanpur Group Temples, Kakatiya Rock Garden, Pandavulagutta, Kakatiya Musical Garden and Bhadrakali Temple. 3 Ramappa

Ramappa Lake is another vast lake which was built by Kakatiya rulers; it is the pride of Warangal. Somasila is a village in Mahabubnagar District, Telangana. The small town is widely known for 15 temples built around Shivlingas. It is 172 km from Hyderabad.
